Float Clock Privacy Policy
Company responsible for personal information: Shanghai Rongrui Technology Co., Ltd (the “Company”, “we”, “us” or “our”; registered in mainland China)
Privacy contact: rongruikj@163.com
Scope: the current Float Clock iOS app and our legal-document webpages
Version date: September 29, 2026
Effective date: The date this version is first publicly published.
This policy explains which information stays on your device, what information is handled when you use Apple purchases, network features or support, and how you can manage it. The current app does not provide Company account registration, phone-number sign-in, SMS verification or cloud profile synchronization. It does not include advertising, user-behavior analytics or third-party crash analytics. This does not mean that no information is processed: your device stores settings, Apple handles purchases, network destinations receive requests, and email support and webpage hosting involve the information described below.
1. Information that is processed
1.1 Local profile, images and settings
Clock settings, skin selections, favorites, display preferences, language choice, alarms, countdowns and hourly-chime settings are primarily processed and stored on your device. Your optional name, nickname and avatar are also stored locally. They are not uploaded to a Company account service. The app shares the settings needed for display with its own Home Screen widget extension; this does not make them available to unrelated apps.
When you choose an avatar, the app processes the photo you select through the system photo picker or the image you choose to capture with the camera. It saves a resized copy for your local profile. Selecting a photo does not give the app general access to your entire photo library, and the app does not upload the avatar to our servers.
Your device or system backups may include local app data, depending on your system settings and the backup eligibility of the relevant files. “Stored locally” is not a promise that information can never be included in a backup you enable. The app does not offer its own cloud backup of your profile and settings.
1.2 Apple purchases and membership status
Apple handles purchases, payments, subscription management and purchase restoration. Through StoreKit, the app receives the information needed to verify and provide membership, such as product and transaction identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, subscription status and revocation information. Membership is determined using verified Apple transactions.
The current app does not send signed transactions to a Company phone-account binding service or associate a membership with a phone number. We do not obtain your Apple Account password, full payment-card number or payment security code through the app. Apple processes transaction information under its own terms and privacy policy. See our Membership and Auto-Renewal Agreement for subscription details.
1.3 Network latency measurements
Opening the latency-source selection screen starts repeated requests to the listed Apple, Douyin, Taobao, JD, Pinduoduo, Dewu, Ctrip and Xiaohongshu sites to measure their response times. Opening the screen checks multiple listed destinations, not only the one you eventually select.
After you close the selection screen, if an external site remains selected, the app continues checking that site while the app is active and resumes using the saved selection when you return to the app. Select System and close the selection screen to stop this feature from making requests to those destinations.
The destinations receive your IP address and ordinary network-request information. They may return redirects or cookies, and their handling of those connections is subject to their own privacy rules. The initial destination domains are apple.com, search.douyin.com, taobao.com, jd.com, pinduoduo.com, dewu.com, ctrip.com and xiaohongshu.com. Redirects can send a request to another address designated by a destination.
The measurement feature does not require you to sign in to those platforms and does not read your platform accounts, orders or list of installed apps. These sites are request destinations. Their inclusion does not mean they endorse the app or have a commercial partnership with us.
1.4 Email support and diagnostic information
If you email us, we receive your sender address, the information and attachments you choose to provide, and the correspondence needed to handle your request. We ask only for information relevant to the issue. Please do not send unrelated identity documents, passwords, verification codes or full payment-card details. Your email service and the provider of our support mailbox also process email as needed for delivery and storage.
The app can create diagnostic messages through the operating system to help identify errors. It does not include an automatic upload service to a Company crash-reporting or analytics server. If you choose to share a diagnostic report with us, it becomes part of the information you provide for support. Device-level diagnostic sharing you enable with Apple is governed by Apple’s settings and policies.
1.5 Legal-document webpages
Our legal-document webpages are publicly readable without signing in and are hosted using Tencent Cloud. The pages themselves do not set cookies or load advertising, analytics scripts, external fonts or images. The hosting service may process an IP address, access time, request path, browser or request information and response status to deliver the page, operate the service and prevent attacks. Retention rules for records under our control are described in Section 4.
If you follow an external link, the destination website processes information under its own rules. Those external sites may use cookies or other technologies even though our legal-document pages do not include them.
2. System permissions and your choices
| System capability | Purpose | If you decline or withdraw access |
|---|---|---|
| Alarm permission on supported versions of iOS 26 and later | Deliver system alarm alerts for the alarms, countdowns and hourly chimes that you set | The corresponding system alarm features cannot operate as intended; unrelated features remain available. |
| Notification permission on iOS 17 and 18 | Deliver alarms, countdowns and hourly chimes through local notifications | Notifications or sounds may be restricted; unrelated features remain available. |
| Camera permission | Take a photo when you choose to change your local avatar using the camera | You cannot take an avatar photo through the app; you can still use the default avatar or choose an image through the system picker. |
| System photo picker | Import the image you choose for a local avatar | No image is imported if you cancel. The app does not request general photo-library access for this action. |
Permission is requested through the system when the relevant feature is used. You can manage camera, notification and alarm permissions in iOS settings where supported. On iOS 17 and 18, reminders are subject to notification sound settings, Silent mode, Focus and system scheduling, and are not guaranteed to ring continuously like a system alarm. Floating clock display uses the picture-in-picture capabilities supported by iOS. It does not require camera or microphone recording for that display.
This version does not request tracking authorization for advertising or analytics and does not collect an installed-app list or an IMEI. Declining data processing unrelated to membership does not remove valid membership benefits.
3. Service providers and other recipients
| Service or recipient | Purpose and handling | Relevant information | Further information |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store, StoreKit and iOS services | Purchase processing, transaction verification, subscription management, system permissions, reminders and device features | Purchase and subscription information; data you provide to the corresponding Apple service | Apple Privacy Policy and Apple privacy contact |
| Tencent Cloud website hosting | Deliver the legal-document webpages and provide necessary operational and security support | Website access and security records described in Section 1.5 | Tencent Cloud Privacy Statement |
| Email providers used to exchange support messages, including the provider of our 163.com support mailbox | Transmit and store correspondence needed to handle a support request | Email addresses, message content, attachments and delivery information | The applicable provider’s email terms and privacy policy; contact us for questions about our handling of support records. |
Apple’s responsible service entity and terms depend on the service and your country or region. Tencent Cloud is used for website hosting in this version, not as an app account database or SMS service. The app does not embed an SMS authentication SDK. Network measurement destinations are described separately in Section 1.3.
We do not sell your personal information. Where a provider processes information on our behalf, we will apply the contractual, purpose-limitation and oversight measures required by law. If a disclosure requires separate notice or consent, we will provide that notice and obtain the required consent before it occurs. Transfers in a merger, lawful disclosures to authorities and other legally regulated disclosures will be handled under the applicable requirements. This policy is not a general authorization for unrestricted sharing.
4. Storage locations and retention
Local app data is stored on your device and may be included in backups you manage. It is not synchronized to a Company-operated profile database. Records and backups under our control are stored in mainland China, where our company is based. If you contact us from another country or region, the information in your support request is made available to us in mainland China.
Apple, email providers, website hosting services and the external network destinations may process information in the locations used to provide their services, which can be outside your country or region. We do not claim that every processing activity takes place in mainland China merely because our company is based there. For any international transfer for which we are responsible, we will comply with applicable notice, consent and other legal requirements before carrying it out.
We retain information only for as long as necessary for its stated purpose. In the table below, 15 days means 15 calendar days. This period does not extend any shorter validity period or prevent earlier deletion where appropriate.
| Information | Retention and deletion |
|---|---|
| Local profile, avatar, favorites and display or reminder settings | Retained according to your changes in the app and your device-data management choices. System backups and shared widget data must also be considered; clearing a cache does not erase all profile or reminder information. |
| Membership information received by the app | Used and refreshed as needed to determine the current entitlement from Apple. Apple keeps its own purchase records under its policies and legal obligations; deleting local app data does not delete those records. |
| Support correspondence under our control | Kept while we handle your issue, then deleted or anonymized within 15 days after the issue is resolved, unless further retention is legally required. |
| Ordinary operational and website access logs under our control | Kept for no more than 15 days from creation, then deleted or anonymized. Legally required network-security logs are treated separately below. |
| Network-security logs subject to a legal retention requirement | Where Article 23 of the PRC Cybersecurity Law applies, the relevant network logs are retained for at least six months. They are deleted or anonymized within 15 days after the required period ends and no other lawful retention basis remains. |
| Backups of support or hosting records under our control | Retained for no more than 15 days from creation before deletion or overwrite, except where a legal retention duty applies. Information accepted for deletion is removed or overwritten within 15 days, subject to that exception. Pending removal, use is restricted; if a backup is restored, deletion is reapplied. Backups you manage for your own device are separate from this schedule. |
Once deletion is required, we will delete or anonymize the information as required by law. If a mandatory retention period has not ended or deletion is temporarily technically impracticable, we will limit processing to storage and necessary protection rather than use the information for another purpose. Backups are not a basis for retaining information indefinitely.
5. Access, correction, withdrawal and deletion
You can view and change local profile details and settings through the controls provided in the app, replace your avatar, remove favorites and delete reminders through their respective controls. You can withdraw system permissions in iOS settings. Clearing the app’s cache is not a profile reset, subscription cancellation or deletion of all app information.
Deleting the app through iOS can remove its local app container; offloading the app keeps its documents and data. Copies in system backups and data retained for installed extensions may require separate device or backup management. We cannot remotely inspect, change or erase information that exists only on your device or in a backup you control. Contact us if you need help identifying the relevant controls.
For personal information held by us, you may request access, a copy, correction or deletion, or withdraw applicable consent, by emailing rongruikj@163.com. We will verify and respond within 15 days after receipt and request only the identity information necessary to handle the request. Where we cannot comply, we will explain the applicable reason. The same response period applies to privacy questions and complaints. You may also exercise other rights, including contacting a competent privacy authority, where provided by applicable law.
There is no Company account to delete in the current app. If you previously used an older version with a phone-number account, contact us about any records still held under that service. Removing account features does not by itself establish that all historical records have been erased. We will handle a verified account-deletion request within 15 days after identity verification, subject to legally required retention and the applicable deletion rules.
Deleting local data or requesting deletion of information held by us does not cancel an Apple subscription or erase Apple’s purchase records. To stop renewal, cancel separately through Apple’s subscription settings. Requests about information Apple holds are handled through Apple’s privacy channels.
If we discontinue operations, we will stop unnecessary collection, provide required notice and delete or anonymize information we hold as required by law.
6. Security and children
We use appropriate access restrictions, system-provided storage protections, HTTPS for the app’s configured web requests and input validation to protect information. No system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a personal-information security incident occurs, we will take remedial action and make reports and notifications as required by law.
The current app does not offer child account registration. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 14 without the consent or other authorization required by applicable law. Users under 18 should use the app with a parent or guardian’s guidance. If we learn that a child has provided information to us improperly, we will verify the circumstances, stop inappropriate processing and take necessary protective measures, including deletion where required. A parent or guardian may contact rongruikj@163.com. Higher age thresholds or additional protections required by applicable law remain unaffected.
7. Policy changes and contact
We will provide notice of changes as required by law. If a material change to the purposes, methods or categories of processing requires renewed consent, we will obtain that consent before implementing the change. Adding advertising, analytics or another service in the future would require a new assessment and appropriate disclosure; this policy does not authorize those activities in advance.
For questions, complaints or suggestions about this policy or our handling of information, contact Shanghai Rongrui Technology Co., Ltd at rongruikj@163.com.
